Machine Compatibility

• Panasonic CM402 — this servo motor is listed for the CM402, so the machine model on your maintenance record is already enough for us to start the compatibility check.
• Panasonic CM602 — the same part covers the CM602, which means a floor running both platforms works from a single spare reference for this position.
• Other Panasonic platforms — the motor reference changes from machine to machine. If your equipment is not a CM402 or CM602, send us the model and we will identify the correct unit.
• Revisions during production — Panasonic updated components across the production life of these platforms, so two machines of the same model can carry different references for the same position. The number on the motor you are removing settles which one applies.

Replacement Planning

Motors at this end of the range are service items rather than lifetime components, and machine builders expect them to be changed at some point during the life of the platform. Before a replacement is ordered, it is worth confirming where the fault sits: a servo alarm can come from the cabling or the encoder as easily as from the motor, and a new motor will not cure a wiring fault. Where the diagnosis does point to the motor, changing it during a planned maintenance window is far cheaper than waiting for it to stop a running line. Factories that run CM402 and CM602 machines often keep one unit on the shelf for exactly that reason.

Fitting & Start-Up

1. Isolate the machine and lock off power before you open the area where the motor is mounted.
2. Photograph the motor, its connectors and the cable routing before anything is removed, so the replacement can go back exactly the same way.
3. Take off the original motor and place it beside the new one: compare the mounting, the shaft and the connector before fitting.
4. Fit the replacement, reconnect it and check that the cable is not pinched, kinked or under tension through the travel of the axis.
5. Power up, jog the axis slowly and let the machine find its reference position before releasing it back to production; if an alarm appears, stop and recheck the connections before running again.
