Product Name: Panasonic Tape Feeder
Description: Panasonic AI Tape Feeder for Panasonic RL131 / RL132, Panasonic Axial Lead Component Insertion Machines
On an RL131 or RL132, the feeder position is what keeps leaded components arriving at the insertion head in the right place at the right time. This Panasonic AI Tape Feeder fills that position: it holds the reel of taped axial components, advances the tape and releases each lead into the path the head takes.
Buying one is usually a response to wear, or to a maintenance plan that has reached the point where the unit on the machine should come off. Feeders are supplied as single complete units, so a replacement drops into the station the old one came out of, and a second unit can sit on the shelf ready for the next changeover.
Axial insertion works differently from surface-mount placement, which is why this feeder is built for Panasonic axial lead component insertion machines rather than for a placement line.
Every surface that touches the carrier tape wears — the guide, the feed lever and the drive faces that pull the tape forward. Because the loss builds over thousands of cycles rather than in one event, a feeder often keeps running long after it has stopped feeding accurately.
The early signs are quiet. A component sits slightly out of position at the insertion head, the tape drifts to one side of the guide, or a jam clears with a nudge and returns later in the shift. Paper dust and tape debris left in the feed path make all three worse, so clearing the guide after a long run and checking that the lever moves freely is worth the few minutes.
Once the tape-carrying surfaces are worn through, adjustment no longer holds: the unit cannot keep the position the insertion head expects. At that point a replacement is the practical route, which is also why many lines keep a spare feeder within reach of the machine.

ZJ-SMT supplies Panasonic SMT and PCB assembly equipment and spare parts to manufacturers worldwide. Our range covers pick-and-place machines, axial and radial insertion equipment, solder paste inspection systems, and feeder spare parts, with both new and used options available. We support bulk orders, and machine condition and availability are confirmed with you before ordering. Whether you are expanding a line, replacing a worn feeder part, or sourcing equipment for a new project, send us your model numbers and our team will come back with a suitable solution and quotation.
The N610071920AA Panasonic Tape Feeder is supplied as one complete feeder unit — the assembly that fits the tape feeder position on the RL131 and RL132, not a set of individual parts. The same unit serves both machines, so a plant running them side by side needs only one spare. Levers, cylinders and sensor guides are separate items and are ordered on their own when a single component has failed.
Often, yes. If one lever, cylinder or sensor guide has failed and the tape path still holds position, fitting that item is usually enough to get the feeder running again. When the surfaces that carry the tape are worn and components start sitting out of position at the insertion head, replacement is the dependable option. A photo and a short description of the fault is the quickest way to have the two cases told apart.
By the number stamped on the body. Several Panasonic feeders look almost identical and the numbers differ by only a few characters, so the marking on the unit itself identifies it more reliably than the packaging or an old invoice. Record the machine model and feeder position alongside the number. Where the marking is no longer readable, a photo of the body is normally enough to confirm which number it is.
Wear in the tape path is the usual cause. The guide surfaces, the feed lever and the drive faces that pull the tape forward all lose material over thousands of cycles, and paper dust or tape debris collected in the guide speeds that up. Typical early signs are components sitting slightly off position at the insertion head, tape drifting to one side of the guide, and jams that clear with a nudge but return later in the shift.
It fits the RL131 and the RL132 only. The RH131 and RHS2B take different feeder numbers, and placement platforms from pick and place machine manufacturers use their own feeder designs and tape formats, so the two groups do not interchange. If your machine is a different model, send the model and the number on the feeder you have and the match can be confirmed.
Keep it in its packing in a dry, dust-free cabinet, away from direct sunlight, heavy vibration and anything that could knock the feed path out of line. Storing the unit with an empty tape path is better than leaving a reel loaded, because carrier tape held against the guide for months can leave a set in it. A quick check that the lever moves freely before the unit goes onto the machine is worth doing.
